YOUNG WRITERS’ WORKSHOP STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY CLAUDE MOORE LITERACY GRANT

We are pleased to offer a limited number of partial and full scholarships for our June 22-26 Summer Young Writers’ Workshop made possible by the Claude Moore Literacy Grant through Shenandoah University for students with financial need.

We also offer a limited number of partial and full scholarships for our weekend workshops. Please contact projectwriteinc@gmail.com for more information.

TO APPLY:

Step #1 – Applicants must write at least a one-paragraph (5-7 sentence) response to the question, “Why do you want to attend Project Write’s Young Writers’ Workshop?”

Please include the following information above your paragraph:  Student Name, Address, Phone Number, School, Parent/Guardian Name, Date(s) of Workshop(s) you would like to attend, and the name of the teacher who will be completing Step #2. Also, include how much your family is able to pay toward the registration fee or if you will need a full scholarship.

Please write “Student Scholarship Application” followed by your last name in the Subject line of the email. All responses should be emailed to projectwriteinc@gmail.com. Scholarship rewards for Summer 2020 will be made on a rolling basis until funds are depleted, so please enter as soon as possible.

Scholarship requests for weekend workshops should be emailed two weeks before the workshop.

Step #2 – Applicants must also have a teacher write a paragraph response explaining how the scholarship would be beneficial for the student. You can detach the bottom portion of this form and give it to your teacher for instruction. THE TEACHER RECOMMENDATION IS OPTIONAL FOR SUMMER 2020.

Applicants will receive an initial email confirming the receipt of his or her application (both the student response and the teacher recommendation) and will be notified of acceptance via email by within 24 business hours.  If not accepted, the student will still have the chance to register for the workshop via mail or online by June 12 preferred and no later than June 19.

TEACHER RECOMMENDATION INSTRUCTIONS

I am applying for a scholarship to attend Project Write’s Young Writers’ Workshop at Shenandoah University, and I have the chance to receive a full scholarship made possible by the Claude Moore Literacy Grant.

Please help me to earn this scholarship by writing a one-paragraph response explaining why receiving this scholarship will be beneficial for me as a student. Please include mention of my financial need. Responses should be emailed to projectwriteinc@gmail.com as soon as possible.  The email subject line should include “Teacher Recommendation” and then my last name.  Inside the email, please include my first and last name, as well as your name and the name of our school in addition to your response.
