WHAT IS IT?

Project Write Saturday Workshop – 

Saturday, October 26, 2024, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.

Inviting young writers in grades 4-12 and their teachers for a day of celebrating the craft of writing!

Keynote Workshop: Robin Ha will lead students in grades 4-12 and their teachers through a writing workshop to cull ideas from their own lives to turn into a graphic memoir. The session will be followed with an opportunity for young writers & teachers to have Ha autograph copies of her books.

What's The Cost?

Teachers attend for FREE! Young writers pay the low $55 registration fee, which includes the author workshop, two genre workshops, and a writing workshop! Registration requested by Friday, October 18. Late registrations will be accommodated.

Registration through Friday, October 18, is $55. Discount registration EXTENDED through Wednesday, October 23!

Late registrations are accepted until the start of the event for $65. Please note that the writer’s first choice for genres may not be able to be met with late registration.

What Does It Include?

Keynote - Robin HA

Robin Ha is the award-winning author/illustrator of the graphic novel memoir Almost American Girl. At fourteen she moved to the United States from Seoul, Korea. Her comics and illustrations have appeared in various publications, including the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, as well as in anthologies highlighting Asian American culture, including Rise: A Pop History of Asian America from the Nineties to Now, New Frontiers: The Many Worlds of George Takei, and Shattered: The Asian American Comics Anthology (Secret Identities). She is also the author of the best-selling comic recipe book Cook Korean!: A Comic Book With Recipes. Her new graphic novel, The Fox Maidens is published by Balzer and Bray in February 2024.

Writers will have the opportunity to cull ideas from their own lives to turn into a graphic memoir. The session will be followed with an opportunity for young writers & teachers to have Ha autograph copies of her books.
